Prof. Dr. Mahmut Çerkez Ergören, PhD

Medical Director / Managing Partner

Prof. Dr. Mahmut Çerkez Ergören completed his PhD at the University of Leicester. He has served as a faculty member in human and medical genetics at the Near East University Faculty of Medicine since 2013 and was appointed Professor of Medical Genetics in May 2025. He has extensive academic and clinical experience in rare diseases, clinical genomics, next-generation sequencing (NGS), prenatal diagnosis and preimplantation genetic testing (PGT). Since 2020 he has headed the Medical Genetics Laboratory of Near East University Hospital, pioneering the clinical implementation of cytogenetics, FISH, molecular genetics, genomics, NGS and third-generation sequencing technologies.

He has authored over 100 scientific publications, supervised 30 master's and 5 doctoral theses, holds an international patent partnership and has written numerous academic editorials and book chapters. In 2022 he founded the Turkish Cypriot Human and Clinical Genetics Association and served as its founding president. Since November 2025 he has been a managing partner and Medical Director at AdaGen Medical Laboratories.

Pembe Savaş

Business Development Director, Genetics and Reproductive Health

Pembe Savaş holds a BSc in Medical Biochemistry from the University of Leicester and an MSc in Reproductive Science and Women's Health from University College London (UCL). She has been a Lecturer in the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics at Eastern Mediterranean University since 2013. As Business Development Director at AdaGen Medical Laboratories, she leads the development of genetic and advanced diagnostic tests, the creation of new partnerships, relations with healthcare professionals and the growth of laboratory services. Her focus areas are prenatal genetic testing, NIPT, carrier screening, reproductive genetics and molecular genetic diagnostics.

He brings scientific knowledge together with clinical needs. In this way, genetic tests respond more accurately and reliably to the needs of both healthcare professionals and patients.

Ahmet Eren Sayın

Founding Partner, Molecular Genetics Specialist

Ahmet Eren Sayın, with an academic background in molecular genetics and over 20 years of industry experience in biotechnology and health management, directs AdaGen's strategic vision, financial, operational and technological leadership. He is responsible for the corporate structure of Genetiks and AdaGen, regional expansion strategies, advanced technology investments and the coordination of international partnerships.

Spec. Dr. Hakan Berkil

Founding Partner, Medical Genetics Specialist & Genetic Counselor

Spec. Dr. Hakan Berkil, with 30 years of deep experience in medical genetics and clinical consultancy, has successfully carried out the clinical evaluation, diagnosis and reporting of tens of thousands of patients, particularly in prenatal diagnosis and Preimplantation Genetic Testing (PGT). He leads the execution of all medical processes and genetic consultancy services of our center at international standards.

Dr. Yavuz Hakan Özön, PhD

Founding Partner, Medical Genetics Specialist

With 32 years of deep-rooted experience in genetic diagnosis and advanced laboratory technologies, Dr. Yavuz Hakan Özön is one of the pioneers of the field and a leading figure of the team that performed the first FISH PGT procedure in Turkey. Using PGT-A and advanced cytogenetic/molecular diagnostic technologies, he has analyzed and reported tens of thousands of samples throughout his career. He manages AdaGen's scientific infrastructure, next-generation sequencing (NGS) validations and quality processes.

Dr. Hüseyin Karadayı, PhD

Founding Partner, Molecular Genetics & Forensic Science Specialist

Hüseyin Karadayı, with over 25 years of experience in molecular genetics, actively served in the pioneering team that performed the first PGT-M (preimplantation diagnosis of monogenic diseases) procedure in Türkiye. He is responsible for the development, validation and R&D processes of next-generation molecular diagnostics technologies, PGT panels and advanced molecular tests in the laboratory environment.
