Definition

The warfarin (Coumadin) dose is predicted by combined evaluation of the VKORC1 promoter variant -1639G>A and CYP2C9 (*2, *3) genotypes. Carriers of the VKORC1 -1639A allele need a lower warfarin dose; these two genes explain ~50% of the variability in dose.
