Definition

PD-L1 immunohistochemistry measures PD-L1 protein expression in tumor cells and/or tumor-infiltrating immune cells, most commonly using the Tumor Proportion Score (TPS) or Combined Positive Score (CPS). In NSCLC patients with TPS ≥50%, response rate, progression-free survival and overall survival with pembrolizumab monotherapy have been found to be significantly higher than in lower-TPS groups.
