Total Protein and A/G Ratio
Definition
Measures the total protein in the blood and compares its two main types: albumin makes up most of the protein in the blood, and the remainder is called globulin. The A/G ratio is the ratio of albumin to globulin.
Purpose
Screening for nutritional deficiency, liver dysfunction and kidney disease. As part of routine check-ups, or for symptoms such as swelling, fatigue, unexplained weight loss, jaundice or blood in the urine.
Results

Risks and Limitations
Abnormal results may be a sign of a serious health problem, but for correct interpretation, symptoms, medical history and other tests must be evaluated together.
