Chimerism analysis - by PCR analysis (Recipient-Donor; 2 samples)
Definition
In this approach, separate STR profiles are obtained for both the donor and the recipient before transplantation, and distinguishing loci are identified; after transplantation, the allele ratios at these loci in the sample are compared to calculate donor and recipient cell percentages. The two-sample approach provides a more reliable baseline comparison than single-sample analysis.
Method
DNA analysis
Accepted sample types
Blood (EDTA) and Swab
Description
Post-transplant transplantation success.
Inheritance
Individuals' inherited STR polymorphisms are used; the test itself is not a mutation analysis but a tissue-origin determination test (donor vs. recipient).
