Definition

The FLCN gene encodes folliculin, a protein that functions as a tumor suppressor; mutations impair its ability to restrict cell growth. Clinically, multiple benign skin lesions on the face/neck/trunk (fibrofolliculomas), lung cysts, spontaneous pneumothorax and an increased risk of kidney tumors are seen.
