Definition

Hemizygous pathogenic variants in the F9 gene lead to deficient/abnormal production of coagulation factor IX, causing hemophilia B (Christmas disease). Severe cases present with recurrent intra-articular/intramuscular bleeding; if left untreated, chronic joint disease develops.
