Definition

The TNNT2 gene encodes cardiac troponin T, which binds tropomyosin to the troponin complex in the thin filament. TNNT2 variants are typically associated with mild or undetectable hypertrophy despite a disproportionately high risk of sudden cardiac death; it is recognized as a 'concealed' but high-risk subtype of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
