Definition

When the contiguous gene deletion in the 8q24.11-q24.13 region jointly spans the TRPS1 and EXT1 genes, Langer-Giedion syndrome (trichorhinophalangeal syndrome type II) results; it presents with characteristic sparse hair, a bulbous nasal tip, bony protrusions (multiple osteochondromas), and short fingers. It is very rare.
