Multiple Exostoses, type 2
Definition
Hereditary multiple osteochondromatosis type 2 results from heterozygous variants in the EXT2 gene; the EXT1 and EXT2 proteins come together in the Golgi apparatus to form a complex that catalyzes heparan sulfate biosynthesis. Patients develop numerous benign osteochondromas growing outward from the metaphyses of long bones.
