Definition

The PRKAG2 gene (7q36.1) encodes the regulatory gamma-2 subunit of cardiac AMP-activated protein kinase; pathogenic variants lead to abnormal glycogen-like material accumulation in cardiomyocytes, ventricular pre-excitation (WPW pattern), hypertrophic cardiomyopathy-like wall thickening, and progressive conduction system disease. A severe, lethal form presenting in the neonatal period has also been described.
